See Your Network the Way Your Users Do
HPE Aruba Networking User Experience Insight (UXI) is a digital experience monitoring solution that works as your 24/7 remote technician, running more than 20,000 tests per day to monitor every aspect of network and application health. UXI Sensors act like end-users on your network, providing the real-world perspective that traditional monitoring tools miss.
UXI Sensors appear as unique end-users on your network and run synthetic tests to monitor network and application performance from an edge perspective. Designed to test Wi-Fi 6E and previous generations, they work as your remote technician—keeping you ahead of any network, application, or device outages.
What UXI Sensors Test:
- Wi-Fi association and authentication
- DHCP, DNS, and internet reachability
- Application response times (Microsoft 365, Zoom, Google Workspace)
- Latency, jitter, and packet loss
- Roaming performance and voice call quality
- Wired and wireless network comparison
When UXI detects an issue, it automatically goes into triage mode—trying to replicate the issue, comparing wired vs. wireless performance, and providing AI-powered root cause analysis on the cloud-hosted dashboard.
Stop reacting. Start preventing. UXI provides proactive network monitoring that detects problems before they impact your users.
Key Benefits:
- Detect issues in near real-time: Get alerted when performance thresholds are breached—before users notice
- Reduce helpdesk tickets by 50%+: Fix problems proactively instead of waiting for complaints
- Faster troubleshooting (70%+ reduction in MTTR): AI-powered root cause analysis pinpoints the issue immediately
- Validate network changes: Test firmware updates, configuration changes, and upgrades before users are affected
- Continuous optimization: Historical trending helps you plan capacity and justify upgrades with real data
"With Aruba Central's AI-powered visibility, we cut setup time from months to hours." — Henkel IT Team
General Rule: 1 sensor per 5–10 access points provides comprehensive coverage. Typically, expect a ratio of one sensor for every 6 to 24 Access Points, depending on your environment.
Deployment Examples by Environment:
- Small office (10 APs): 1–2 sensors
- SMB/Enterprise: 1–2 sensors per open-plan working area, 1 per conference room, 1 per remote branch
- K-12 Schools: 1–3 sensors in the hallway of each school floor, 1 per large classroom, 1 per cafeteria, 1–2 per library
- Higher Education: 1–3 sensors per floor, 1–2 per study area, 1 per lab, 1–2 per sports facility
- Healthcare: 1–3 sensors per hospital floor, 1–2 in nurse stations, 1 per lobby/waiting area, 1 per cafeteria
- Hotels: 1–3 sensors per hotel floor hallway, 1–2 per lobby, 1 per conference room, 1 per fitness center
- Retail/Shopping Centers: 1–3 sensors per food court, 1–2 per anchor tenant, 1 per entrance
Installation Best Practices: Place sensors where users congregate, with good Wi-Fi coverage, 5 ft (1.5 m) from nearest AP, at 4–5 ft height, away from obstructions, indoors (32–95°F).
K-12 Education
Challenge: School districts face 1:1 device programs, online testing, streaming lessons, and limited IT staff spread across multiple buildings. When Wi-Fi fails during state testing, it impacts student outcomes.
How UXI Helps:
- No on-site IT required: Deploy sensors in each building to monitor 24/7 without staff physically present
- Test season readiness: Validate Wi-Fi, bandwidth, and testing platforms work before exam day
- Chromebook monitoring: Ensure students can authenticate, access Google Classroom, and stream video
- E-Rate eligible: UXI Sensors and Aruba Central qualify for E-Rate Category 2 funding
- Proactive alerts: Know about classroom AP issues before the first bell rings
Enterprises with Distributed Locations
Challenge: Retail chains, bank branches, franchise operations have dozens or hundreds of locations—each with Wi-Fi, but no dedicated IT staff on-site. When the network goes down, sales stop and customer experience suffers.
How UXI Helps:
- Centralized visibility: Monitor all locations from single Aruba Central dashboard—no travel required
- POS uptime monitoring: Ensure point-of-sale, credit card terminals, inventory scanners stay connected
- Guest Wi-Fi validation: Test guest network performance for customer satisfaction
- Reduce truck rolls: Troubleshoot remotely with real-time data instead of sending techs
- Cellular backup: UXI sensors with cellular continue monitoring even if primary internet fails
Healthcare
In hospitals, network downtime is a patient safety issue. UXI monitors EHR access (Epic, Cerner), mobile cart roaming, device health, and documents uptime for compliance.
Everything has been designed for the easiest, fastest setup—from mobile connection for onboarding to adhesive mount for installation. Just ship the sensor to your remote location and see it come online without any technical help.
- Power: PoE (802.3af) or AC adapter (sold separately)
- Auto-onboard: Sensors register with Aruba Central automatically
- Wi-Fi Easy Connect: Simplified onboarding when used with Aruba Central
- Onboarding API: IT teams can onboard multiple sensors at once
- Start testing immediately: See results within minutes
Cellular Models (G5C, G6C, G6EC): Include fully managed mobile connection that provides connectivity when Wi-Fi is unavailable, cannot authenticate, or when backhaul is down. Sensors also notify IT of power failures.

Backup Mobile Connection
The fully-managed onboard mobile connection (on G5C, G6C, G6EC models) provides connectivity when Wi-Fi is unavailable, cannot authenticate, or when the backhaul is down. Uninterrupted monitoring even during WAN outages.
Power Outage Detection
Supercapacitors provide backup power for the sensor to notify IT of power issues, verify the network is still up, and enter sleep mode gracefully. G6EC models offer ≥60s backup.
Wi-Fi 6E Support
G6E and G6EC models feature dual-radio 802.11ax with 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz support. Off-band monitoring helps IT compare BSSID performance and understand RF environment.
Enterprise Security
End-to-end security verified by third-party penetration testing. Hardened UXI sensors simultaneously test up to four wireless and wired networks with encrypted communication.
No Cable Pulls Required
Cellular connectivity (on C models) and power supply options (PoE or AC) enable fast installation without expensive Ethernet cabling. Ideal for remote locations.
Full Linux Stack
With space and memory to run a complete Linux stack including web browser, this "client device" computer provides authentic end-user simulation beyond typical network monitoring products.
HPE Aruba Networking User Experience Insight Dashboard
UXI dashboard is a cloud-based interface that presents network performance data captured by UXI Sensors in an easy-to-understand format. Based on a traffic light theme, the dashboard helps customers to diagnose network issues in just a "single glance."
